June 21 marks the first day of summer in the Northern Hemisphere. It's the longest day of the year, marking the summer solstice. Solstice comes from the two Latin words meaning “sun to stand still”.
But summer is more than just a couple of pages on a calendar, more than the 91 days between now and mid September. Summer if a feeling, an attitude, a way of being! Ask any kid that just completed their last day of school. Better yet, go back a few years to your last day of school.

Our generation was the first to deal with the issue of child care. While there is still work to be done in that area, it is a known fact of working life for today’s employees and employers. Many workplaces offer in-house daycare or provisions for time off for issues around the kids and family.
